Methodology

How listings are read

Every listing is read by hand from the host's public listing, dated, and linked to its source.

The driver must stay attentive and remains responsible for driving at all times.

How a listing is read and dated

We read each listing from the host's public listing on Turo or Eon. We copy only the facts the host shows: the car, the city, the FSD pricing mode and the daily rate. We copy no photo and no description text.

Each listing carries its source, the public address we read it from. It also carries its checked date, the day we last read that source. The one link out is the host's listing on its platform. Nothing is booked here.

The host hears from us before the listing goes up. When it goes up, the host gets a second note with the link.

What host-claimed and confirmed mean

A host-claimed listing advertises Full Self-Driving (Supervised), and its host has not replied to us yet.

A confirmed listing has a host who replied that FSD (Supervised) is active for renters. Its confirmation date is the day of that reply.

A confirmation lasts 90 days. After that, the listing reads as host-claimed again until the host replies again.

Each JSON record carries the state twice. fsdForRenters is the state that holds today. The attrs object keeps the state as it was stored. So a confirmation 90 days old reads host-claimed in fsdForRenters and confirmed in attrs. We keep both so you can see what the host said and what holds now.

How a listing is re-checked and when it reads stale

We read each source again every 30 days. A new read moves the checked date.

A listing whose checked date is 30 days old or older reads as stale. The word stale sits beside the date on every page and in every file. Nothing is hidden.

When a listing is removed

We remove a listing in four cases:

  • its host asks us to;
  • its host replies that FSD (Supervised) is not active for renters;
  • its source no longer opens;
  • its source no longer advertises FSD (Supervised).

A removed listing's page returns not found, and its row leaves the city page.

What hardware generation and FSD version mean

Hardware generation is the Tesla computer in the car, such as HW3 or HW4. FSD version is the FSD (Supervised) release the host's listing last showed, such as v14.

We show each one only when the host's listing shows it.

How to report an error

Email admin@fsd.rentals with the listing's address and what is wrong.

We read the source again. A fix is a new fact with its own date, and the old fact stays in our record. Every page then shows the new fact.

How a host opts out

A host who would rather not be listed can reply to our note or email admin@fsd.rentals. We remove the listing within two working days.

We never list that host again.
